Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Multi-parton-interaction(MPI) の効果を初めて原子核原子核衝突で検証することを試みた。RHICーPHENIX実験での2016年に取られた金+金衝突のデータを用いた。衝突に関与していない核子のうち中性子が前方のハドロンカロリメータ(ZDC)に入るので、その数を限定し(±1%程度)クラス分けをして、楕円型方位角異方性(v2)と生成粒子数の相関を測った。その結果、ZDCを限定した時としなかった時で、中心衝突事象において、有意な違いが観察された。ZDCを限定しない時には、v2 vs. 生成粒子数に負の相関が見え、限定した時は、正の相関にはならなかったが、傾きが緩やかになった。これは、MPIの効果の傾向と矛盾しない。さらに、ZDCの値によって、同じ生成粒子数でも、v2に違いが見えることがわかった。これも、比較的中心衝突事象でのみ観測された。これは、ZDCが違う=衝突初期の衝突に関与した核子の作る幾何学的異方性が違う、ためである。違うZDCを示すイベントがそれに伴い違うv2を示しているにも関わらず、同じ生成粒子数を示しているということは、核子あたりの生成粒子数が違うイベントを見ることに成功したことを示しており、これもMPIの効果があった時に起こる現象と矛盾しない。また、生成粒子数をラピディティの違う検出器で測り、比較をしたところ、結果は一致したため、ラピディティには依存していないことがわかった。さらに申請者らは、この研究結果は、衝突事象をより細かく分けるイベントエンジニアニングに利用できると考えており、これも今後のこの分野の研究の発展につながる大きな成果の一つである。これらの結果が評価されて、結果を複数の国際学会の招待講演として発表した。さらに論文にまとめる作業を進めている。これらの研究成果等を評価され、国際ソロプチミストの2つの支部からクラブ賞を受賞した。
