Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year we realized additional GaAs/AlGaAs multi-layer coatings by Molecular Beam Epitaxy on 4 inches GaAs wafers. We characterized them in terms of scattering, roughness and point defects. We then developed the procedure to transfer the coatings from the original GaAs wafers to 4 inches silica substrates. This was done first with a 4 layers coating and then with a thicker multi-layer coating made of 70 layers. After the transfer, optical characterization were done to measure the scattering, the roughness and the point defects of the final mirrors. In parallel we investigate the use of new oxides for the coatings of KAGRA.
