Outline of Annual Research Achievements

熱帯の成層圏-対流圏結合変動メカニズムの解明は、1か月~1年程度先の気象・気候予測技術を次の段階に進めるための喫緊の課題であり、その地球温暖化影響も明らかにする必要がある。巻雲は放射過程を通して熱帯成層圏-対流圏結合変動を増幅する可能性があるが、気候予測モデル性能と観測データの不足もあり、その効果は未だ解明に至っていない。本研究課題は地球システムモデルの巻雲再現性を向上させ熱帯成層圏-対流圏結合変動に巻雲が及ぼす影響とそのメカニズムの解明し、その地球温暖化に伴う変化についても明らかにすることを目的としている。
本研究課題の初年度にあたる本年度は主に以下のことを実施した。①地球システムモデルの薄い巻雲の再現と巻雲の雲頂・雲底での適切な放射過程を再現し、気温や循環、水蒸気量、エアロゾルを含めた化学場の高精度化を目的として熱帯対流圏界層を中心に鉛直解像度を増強し層間隔を100~200m程度にする鉛直高解像度化を行った。②巻雲を含む氷雲の生成消滅を扱う雲微物理スキームを改善する定式化の見直しを行った。③大規模アンサンブルシミュレーションデータを用いて成層圏突然昇温の熱帯対流圏への影響を調査した。③については結果をまとめ国際学会4件、国内研究会1件で発表を行い、論文投稿に向けて執筆を行っているところである。
本研究課題の遂行は世界の気象・気候予測モデルの巻雲表現を再考し、気象・気候予測技術を次の段階に進める契機となることが期待される。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

本年度は、地球システムモデルの鉛直高解像度化、雲物理過程の改善と積雲パラメタリゼーションの調整による巻雲過程の改善を実施する予定であったが、モデルの鉛直高解像度化と雲物理過程の見直しの実施に留まり、見直した雲物理過程のモデル実装と積雲パラメタリゼーションの調整は完了しなかった。その理由として当初研究計画になかった大規模アンサンブルシミュレーションデータを用いた成層圏突然昇温の熱帯対流圏への影響の調査と次世代地球システムモデル開発に時間を要したことがある。ただしこれらの実施によって得られた知見は本研究課題の成果に還元されるものである。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2年目は早い段階で見直した雲物理過程の地球システムモデル実装と積雲対流パラメタリゼーションのモデル調整を行い、その後、現在気候実験とその解析を行う。3年目に温暖化気候実験を実施し、成果を取りまとめて報告する。

Causes of Carryover

大規模ストレージ費用と旅費が見積より安価であったこと、ハードディスク費用の支弁が別予算から得られたことで未使用額が生じた。
これらはデータを保存する追加ストレージと成果発表に関わる旅費に使用する予定である。
