Outline of Annual Research Achievements

熱帯の成層圏－対流圏結合変動メカニズムの解明は、1か月～1年程度先の気象・気候予測技術を次の段階に進めるための喫緊の課題であり、その地球温暖化影響も明らかにする必要がある。巻雲は放射過程を通して熱帯成層圏－対流圏結合変動を増幅する可能性があるが、気候予測モデル性能と観測データの不足もあり、その効果は未だ解明に至っていない。本研究課題は地球システムモデルの巻雲再現性を向上させ熱帯成層圏－対流圏結合変動に巻雲が及ぼす影響とそのメカニズムの解明し、その地球温暖化に伴う変化についても明らかにすることを目的としている。
本年度は主に以下のことを実施した。①昨年度行った雲物理過程の見直しの地球システムモデルへの実装および積雲パラメタリゼーションの調整を行った。②地球システムモデルの改良をもとに現在気候実験を開始し、雲微物理スキームを調節して巻雲の変化させる実験を一部遂行した。③大規模アンサンブルシミュレーションデータを用いて成層圏突然昇温の熱帯対流圏への影響を調査した。③については結果をまとめ、国際学会１件の発表を行い、論文投稿済で今後必要に応じて改定等の作業を行う。また課題関連研究として９本の論文が受理・公開された。
本研究課題の遂行は世界の気象・気候予測モデルの巻雲表現を再考し、気象・気候予測技術を次の段階に進める契機となることが期待される。

Reason

本年度は、地球システムモデルの現在気候実験と雲物理過程の調整実験、それらの解析を実施する予定であったが、現在気候実験と巻雲調整実験は計算途中であり、解析は簡易的なものしか実施することができなかった。
その理由として新型コロナウィルス対応で全体の計画に遅れが生じたことと、当初研究計画になかった大規模アンサンブルシミュレーションデータを用いた成層圏突然昇温の熱帯対流圏への影響の調査と次世代地球システムモデル開発に時間を要したことがある。ただしこれらの実施によって得られた知見は本研究課題の成果に還元されるものである。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本年度積み残した課題を遂行しつつ、３年目に予定している課題を遂行し、成果を取りまとめて報告する。
場合によっては研究計画の１年延長も検討する。

Causes of Carryover

大規模ストレージ費用が見積より安価であったこと、新型コロナウィルス関連で旅費を使用する機会がなかったため未使用額が生じた。
これらはデータを保存するハードディスクおよび成果発表に関わる論文投稿関連費用と旅費に使用する予定である。
