Outline of Final Research Achievements

In near future, it is expected that various civil infrastructure in Japan will be degraded with accelerating speed, and accordingly the cost for the inspection and maintenance will be increased. Therefore, in this research, we aimed to save the cost and efforts for the inspection and developed a method for estimating three-dimensional ground deformation rate of area of interest by using satellite-borne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images and external data, e.g. electronic reference point data. We applied the method to airports, dikes and mountains along expressways, and found that the method can successfully estimate ground deformation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
