Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We analyzed the influence of public transportation services on visitors’ activity spaces in the central area of Kobe City, using GPS trajectory data. Public transportation services contributed to expand visitors’ activity spaces in the central area and loop bus service was particularly effective to the elderly. We developed pedestrian activity-travel behavior models considering alteration of visitors’ initial activity plans. The proposed models consist of choice of the number of activity locations initially planned, choice regarding whether continuing activity, activity type choice, activity location choice and activity duration choice. The results showed that it is possible to reproduce visitors’ activity-travel behavior with good accuracy using the models, and the increase in the attractiveness of city center can encourage of alteration of visitors’ activity plans, causing the number of activity locations and activity duration in the city center.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
