Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
With the Covid 19 pandemic continuing to limit international travel, research on roles of NGOs and government in housing provision after recent urban disasters in the United States and Indonesia was restricted to gathering information remotely, participation in online conferences, and desk review. Research on both cases has progressed in understanding the ongoing recovery situation in each site, additionally complicated by the coronavirus pandemic, and in the case of Houston also by a historic and devastating black-out, showing the complex and cascading effect of disasters.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Due to the continued restriction from the novel coronavirus, research progress was also somewhat delayed this year. Instead of on-site field visits, research was limited to remote information gathering and desk review of relevant documents and data.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
If possible, research this year will include site visits to relevant field study areas in Indonesia and the United States. At the same time, research activities will also include online interviews with key stakeholder and relevant community organizations and NGOs.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Because of the limitation on international travel, some of the funding from this year will be carried over to next FY, and used for remotely organized local survey support, and to acquire relevant documents.
