Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This research advanced understanding of NGO and government roles in post-disaster housing recovery support. Due to continuing impacts of Covid19, research expanded to consider complex impacts of disaster and pandemic on housing recovery, and additionally in the case of Houston, cascading impacts of a winter storm and blackout. With international travel limitations due to the pandemic, field research sites were expanded to include post-volcano recovery Hawaii (USA), and long term recovery in Thailand. Insights gained from these investigations have been shared at international conferences and will be published. This research developed into ongoing international collaborative projects investigating post-disaster housing recovery, NGO support for residents and long-term recovery outcomes.
