Outline of Final Research Achievements

We developed a non-destructive and simple method to check the inner diameter and internal condition of a pipette by introducing argon gas from the pipette tip and measuring the pressure at the inlet and outlet sides of the pipette. The coefficient value of the second-order coefficient can be extrapolated from the pipette inner diameter dependence to show that the flow is viscous when the inner diameter is 1μm or larger and molecular flow when the inner diameter is 1 μm or smaller. The result shows that the pipette inner diameter can be measured nondestructively to inspect the condition inside the pipette.
As a secondary result of this research, a technique was developed to dissolve gold in aqueous alkali halide solutions using alternating current without the use of strong acids.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
