Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Recently, the concept of biocultural diversity, which includes both biodiversity and cultural diversity, has been gaining popularity. In this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey of rural communities throughout Japan to determine the impact of paddy field agriculture on biocultural diversity in Japan. Based on the survey results, an analysis of dialectal names of freshwater fish, one aspect of cultural diversity, was conducted. The analysis was conducted separately for Tochigi Prefecture, which had the largest number of data. The results of the nationwide survey were also analyzed separately.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
