Outline of Final Research Achievements

Previously, we identified a novel Ciona-specific neuropeptide, CiLF-8, and its cognate receptor, CiLF8-R. However, its biological role remains to be elucidated. In this study, we revealed that CiLF8-R is localized to pre-vitellogenic oocytes. Moreover, RNA-seq for CiLF8-treated and untreated oocytes demonstrated that CiLF8 regulated a variety of non-coding RNAs. These results suggest that CiLF8 is involved in the growth of pre-vitellogenic oocytes.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
