Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The proposed research strategy involves the following components (clinical, virological and immunologic). For 2020, we have collected and received more than 100 dengue samples from Vietnam and Myanmar. Inflammatory cytokines were determined by a panel of up to 45 cytokines to determine inflammatory mediators according to immunity profiles and disease severity. miRNA was isolated from plasma samples and ascites and the expression was determined by using microarray and RT-PCR. Samples will be further selected for RNAseq analyses.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Dengue patient samples has been selected for miRNA characterization. The research plan was slightly delayed due to global COVID-19 outbreak that has led to increased workload in COVID-19 diagnosis and research, and lesser priority in dengue sample collection in counterpart countries.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Comprehensive immune response in dengue patients will be characterized together with miRNA by using plasma and ascite samples by using microarray and RNAseq. Virus will be isolated from the samples to characterize the sequences and potential pathogenicity. Cross-reactive immune response will be determined by neutralizing assays.
