| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The proposed research strategy involves the following three components (clinical, virologic and immunologic). We have collected 100 serum samples from patients with dengue and severe dengue in Vietnam. Ascites fluid was collected from 40 patients with severe dengue. Inflammatory cytokines were determined by a panel of 10 cytokines to determine inflammatory mediators according to disease severity. Using 8 serum samples and 8 ascites samples, miRNA was isolated and miRNA expression was determined by using microarray. Selected miRNA levels was validation by qPCR by using cell culture assays.
