Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A crossover study was conducted in 22 OSA patients with pre-existing hypertension, randomly assigned to OA treatment group or placebo group. 22 patients had a significant reduction in REI of 22.8 vs. 10.0/h (p<0.01) in the OA group. In terms of PTT blood pressure, mean systolic blood pressure during wakefulness was 131.7 vs. 121.4 mmHg (p<0.01), and mean systolic blood pressure during sleep was 123.3 vs. 112.8 mmHg (p<0.01), a significant decrease in the OA group, suggesting that OA treatment may be effective in treating nocturnal blood pressure surges.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
