Outline of Final Research Achievements

It is said, that almost 85% of human oral cancer is squamous cell carcinoma. Remaining 15% are salivary gland cancer and sarcoma. We made up our mind to development of dormancy therapy of salivary duct cancer because its survival prognosis is poor.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

我々はこれまでに唾液腺癌でのマイクロアレイの解析などからID1遺伝子の発現の増強やタンパク発現の増強を明らかにし、発表してきた。つまり、この遺伝子発現を抑えることにより、細胞の増殖、浸潤を抑えることに成功している。一般に扁平上皮癌に比べ発育の遅い唾液腺癌では1つのKey moleculeをノックアウトすることによりその発育をさらに遅らせ、Dormancyの状態に誘導できる可能性を示唆した。
