Outline of Final Research Achievements	In the physicochemical function analysis of saliva, cross-sectional analysis of stimulated saliva collected at the time of adult oral health examination and component analysis of resting saliva with different viscosity in the same person were performed. In salivary components, various glycoproteins play an important role in determining the oral environment. Our study indicated that several salivary proteins in the high and low molecular weight might be associated with general health condition in stimulated saliva. In addition, in a longitudinal survey of saliva during radiotherapy of head and neck cancer, changes in the physical properties of saliva and the concentrations of polysaccharides and glycoproteins were observed. From the obtained results, we tried to prepare artificial saliva that approximated the physical and biochemical properties of saliva, and considered the factors necessary for the reconstruction of the oral environment.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements	口腔は、日常生活の『食べて・話し・笑う』ことを担い、この口腔の活動を支えているのが唾液である。唾液は多機能な液体であるが、唾液を口腔内に取り出すと物性が変化する理由で、唾液の本質的な機能的解析が進んでいない。一方で、高度の口腔乾燥を訴える高齢者は３割と報告され、そこで問題となる口腔症状は、損なわれた唾液の多機能性を示している。医科患者の周術期口腔管理では、頭頚部の放射線治療や化学療法を実施する患者は治療開始後から唾液分泌量が極端に低下し、唾液の構成要素内容も大きく変化する。本研究では、口腔環境の唾液による再構築を考え、これらの患者の治療や予防に関する情報を得ることができた。
