Outline of Final Research Achievements

The study revealed regional disparities in obstetrics and gynecology, specifically in total hysterectomy and laparoscopic surgery for benign gynecological conditions. The strong correlation between certified laparoscopic surgeons and procedure rates indicates regional disparities. Findings may help eliminate disparities, suggesting a constant number of certified laparoscopic surgeons to equalize practice. Equalizing obstetrics and gynecology aligns with social demands, and study results aim to address regional disparities.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

今回の研究で、産婦人科医師数のみならず腹腔鏡下手術技術認定医師数の地域偏在が明らかになった。腹腔鏡下手術技術認定医師数の地域偏在は婦人科良性疾患に対する腹腔鏡下手術と強い相関関係があった。このことは、産婦人科診療実態に地域格差があることを示唆する結果である。すなわち、産婦人科の診療レベルを全国一律にするためには、女性人口当たりの腹腔鏡下手術技術認定医師数を各都道府県で一定にする必要がある。産婦人科は女性の身近な診療科であり、その診療レベルの均てん化は社会的なニーズに合致する。本研究の成果が産婦人科医師の地域偏在の解消の一助になることを期待する。
