| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the PY 2021, we have managed to Finish data clearance for both the Japanese and Egyptian data. We have maintained security for the obtained anonymous data in a stand-alone PC, with no access allowed except for the PI. We collected the required literature review related to the research topic. We completed the statistical analyses for several topics in the comparative study. We conducted online meetings with the Egyptian and Japanese researchers to discuss the preliminary results of descriptive data analyses. We published three research articles (one is a profile manuscript of the Egyptian data Published in Journal of Public Health: DOI: 10.1007/s10389-021-01641-8.), the second research article is an original article comparing the association of work-family conflicts and mental health in Japan and Egypt (Journal of Epidemiology: doi: 10.2188/jea.JE20210338), and the third article is based on Egypt data about work-family conflicts, depression, and workability of Egyptian civil workers (J Public Health (Oxf)).
We prepared some data for two other research articles.
We wrote the draft of one new article.
We submitted another article to a scientific journal (still under review).
we asked to extend the end of this project for one extra yar, due to the delay in the publication process caused by the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Currently, we have published three research articles

We also prepared another research article under review in BMC Public Health. We frequent contact with the team at Nagoya University, Japan, and Minia University, Egypt, to discuss data analysis and manuscript writing. However, we still need some time as we have another two research articles under preparation and need time for writing and submission till publication. Therefore, we applied for a one-year extension of the project.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
1-I am working on data analyses and discussing the results with researchers from both the Egyptian and the Japanese sides. 2-We are inviting a researcher from Nagoya university to work with us in the Aichi Civil Workers cohort visited Osaka University and analyzed the data to prepare another article. 3-I have published a profile article on the Egyptian study. 4-I have Published another research article comparing Japan and Egypt for work-family conflicts associations with mental health. 5-I have published a third article based on the Egyptian side of data on work-family conflicts, depression, and workabilities.

| Causes of Carryover |
In the first PY (2021), we have prepared three research articles and have already submitted one research article to an Open Access Journal. Therefore, a budget is needed to cover the article processing charges of the Open Access Publications. To save this sum for the open-access publications, the local travel for meetings with co-investigators and collaborators in Nagoya University were replaced by online meeting due to the spread of the corona virus;
We will use the remaining amount of the PY 2021 budget in an extra-year extension, the 2022 PY (extension has been requested) to help in the collection of literature review, local travel for meetings with co-investigators and collaborators in Nagoya University (if the COVID-19 situation allows), and to for paying for English editing and article processing charges of a scientific journal and/or conference fees.
