Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
1. We conducted a cross-sectional study at the Mongolian National Cardiovascular Center to explore self-care behaviour among heart failure patients between May and September 2022. Data of 441 patients were collected by the Mongolian version of the Self-Care of Heart Failure Index The mean age of participants was 61.1±12.6 years; 54% were males; 92% were married; 84% were retired/unemployed and 64% had New York functional class II-III. Inadequate self-care maintenance, symptom perception and management were 68%, 64%, and 24%, respectively. We found suboptimal HF self-care among Mongolian patients. Adequate self-care skills and knowledge of maintenance and recognition of symptoms are crucial in heart failure patients to prevent exacerbation and complications of HF and improve quality of life. 2. Development Self-care education program: to develop the self-care education for patients following steps were taken: conducting the literature and reviewing international guidelines for heart failure management; translation of related parts of guidelines and drafting first version; finalizing through experts meeting and conducting content and face validity.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
Data implementation was delayed due to COVID-19, however, in 20023, the study was able to conducted with the support of the Mongolian health care professionals.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
1. Dissemination of the study in the academic conferences and peer reviewed journals. 2. To conduct single-arm pre and post-intervention quasi-experimental study to explore feasibility and acceptility of self-care educational progrma by nurse. The study setting will be the same as the tool validation study, and required sample size is 72 patients. Intervention will be an hour of one-to-one training and followed several telephone consultations with patients. Self-care, quality of life and hospital readmission will be collected at baseline and 1 and 3 months after the intervention.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to the delay of the research process by COVID 19, the research team intentionally preserve funds to support the study process and to support publication and dissemination of the study results.
