Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we formed a project team with hospital nurses to practice dignity therapy at General Hospital A using a participatory action research approach, and prepared the foundation for practice, such as training therapists and creating a practice protocol.
Furthermore, he practiced dignity therapy on terminally ill and recurrent cancer patients and found that it was effective in alleviating psychological well-being and existential pain.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、海外では効果が検証されているにもかかわらず拒否率の高さから日本での実施可能性は低いとされたディグニティセラピーを、ホスピスや在宅ではなく、一般病院において看護師が実践することに意義がある。加えて、ディグニティセラピーの実践をとおして、終末期がん患者のみではなく再発がん患者に対しても実存的苦痛の緩和に効果があることを明らかにできた。
