Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Child maltreatment prevention support that starts before becoming a parent should incorporate a high-risk approach aimed at reducing intergenerational transmission for those at risk of intergenerational transmission that exist among them, while taking a population approach to increasing parental readiness for all young people. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the revised “The Think about Becoming a Parent” program for high school students. An anonymous questionnaire survey was administered to 1,295 high school students. It was confirmed that it is effective as a populational approach. We also found that the revised program allows under-loved students to increase self-affirmation without feeling intense stress or anxiety. Therefore, it was suggested that the improved program could be the first step to suppress negative intergenerational transmission.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
