| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究では、５年(2019-2023年)計画で、人間の主観的知識を心の機能モデルを介して体系的に接地可能な形式で表現・計算する演繹システムを構成し、ロボットの時空間言語理解機能の核として実装し仮想的な人型ロボットでのシミュレーションを試みている。今年度は、年次計画に基づき大きく３項目（（１）単語句の意味分析・記述、（２）主観的法則の抽出および形式化、（３）心の機能モデルの精緻化）に亘って研究を遂行し、良好な結果を得た。毎年参加している国際会議での発表は残念ながらコロナ禍のため今年度も中止となり、下記のオンラインによる一件の発表に留まった。なお、本研究の基礎理論について、2019年に出版した著書(M. Yokota: Natural Language Understanding and Cognitive Robotics, CRC Press, 2019.)は、全米図書館協会(American Library Association)が定期刊行している雑誌Choice(October 2020 Vol. 58 No. 2)で下記のReviewで高評価を得ることができた。----This is an excellent resource for scientists and engineers looking to develop a deep natural language understanding system for application in robotics, currently one of the most critical areas of development for artificial intelligence technologies. ... 研究自体は進展しているが、コロナ禍のため、毎年、参加している国際会議の中止がつついていており、国際的研究の機会を奪っている。

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
近い将来、自然言語による一般人と家庭用ロボットのコミュニケーションにおいて、それを阻害する可能性のある認知機構の差異に起因する認知障壁（Cognitive Divide）を本質的に解消するために、人間の認知機能のモデルを擁し、同等の自然言語理解能力を備えた人間・ロボット対話管理システムの開発を前年度に引き続き行っていく。
