Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A study was conducted on the learning history and motivation of students at an online university, where most students have full time jobs. In the first year, dropout increased slightly in the first half of the class period, but students continued to learn in the second half. In the advanced year, many students were able to proceed to the end of the course if they were able to complete the first class. A survey of learning motivation revealed that most students were oriented toward self-improvement, and those oriented toward interaction with friends were the least. In addition, more students had greater intrinsic motivation than extrinsic motivation. It was shown that students were more motivated to learn by faculty members' answers to their questions than by encouraging messages from faculty members, indicating that the LMS dashboard progress display contributed to stimulating learning motivation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
