Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Early in AY2022, based on the understandings of emotions developed over the course of this project, I completed analysis of specific cases of emotional significance for my learners from the pilot data collected in 2019. Rather than separating results into separate research articles, I was able to finish writing up the results of the research as a research monograph. I was able to publish this as in open access format with an international publisher (Routledge) to allow wide dissemination of the research findings. I also presented results at a number of conferences (online), to gain feedback from language teaching professionals and academics. I published a co-authored article detailing the online symposium I chaired regarding the ethics and practice of practitioner research, and a number of further publications regarding L+ emotions have been accepted (but not yet published). Although ongoing, I was also able to collect additional data concerning students' emotional literacy and strategies to display and help each other understand emotions in face-to-face settings when wearing facemasks. Additionally, I am working on developing a multimodal representation of the emergence and functions of emotions during EFL discussion.
