Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The current project investigated the difference in the pattern of communication between face-to-face (F2F) and computer-mediated interaction (CMI). The initial analysis of the transcribed data showed a better fluency score during the CMI compared to F2F, which was consistent with the pilot test data. It was hypothesized that the difference in fluency may have been a result of less anxiety when interacting virtually. Nonetheless, the participant’s interaction had less overlap during the CMI session compared to the F2F session. Their utterances sounded more like a monologue than an interaction, resulting in higher fluency. However, further analysis showed no statistical difference between the fluency scores of F2F interaction and CMI.
