Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I was supposed to go to the UK as a visiting scholar at Leeds University but due to COVID this was cancelled. All my research activities were put on hold as I was not able to observe classes and I was not teaching any classes. In terms of achievements, my co-edited book and co-written journal articles about teacher-research were published, and I hosted a Webinar on complexity and classroom research. I also tried to catch up with my reading and get up-to-date with current research.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
Classroom observations are delayed and the study will need to be completely re-designed due to COVID. I am working on a new design which still meets the original aims as much as possible.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
As explained above, I need to re-design aspects of the study so that I can collect different types of data which will still help me to understand about the nature of teacher and student motivation. My study focuses on classroom dynamics and face-to-face interactions and it will not be easy to research these things with the current situation. I am a year behind schedule and have lost all my study abroad time for the sabbatical. My plan is to try to collaborate with the teachers at Leeds university via distance, although this is not the same as being at the university physically and access to resources is more limited.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The reason why FY2020 balance is remained is because all my plans were put on hold by the pandemic and I was not able to go to the UK. The money will be used to buy recording equipment such as microphones and cameras, these will be used to record primarily my own classes as observations of other teachers is not currently feasible.
