Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
As stated before, due to COVID I redesigned my study to focus more on my own teaching. I have been collecting detailed records from my classes and collected several questionnaires and data points related to the aims of my study. I have presented preliminary findings of these to a group of colleagues in the QIRC network (Qualitative Inquiry in Researching Classrooms). In addition, I have begun writing up two papers to be published later this year in the journal of psychology in language learning. In addition, my co-authored chapter with a colleague in Germany was published (see below). I also published a paper with colleagues in Japan and the UK on practitioner research, in which I discussed my research on motivational synergy.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
I am slowly catching up and I have re-adjusted my aims and focus to be more realistic due to the pandemic. The focus on my own teaching has helped, but I would like to collect more data from outside sources.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I will administer a questionnaire to teachers in other contexts that helps me to better understand motivational synergy from their perspectives. I also plan to collect vignettes from teachers that give me a richer insights.

Causes of Carryover |
Last year I intended to travel to Canada and to Bali, as well as the UK to attend conferences and present my research. Sadly, due to a problem with my passport renewal being delayed (I applied in May and was not awarded a new passport until December), I was unable to attend in person and could not use the funds for travel as originally intended. This year I intend to travel more and use up the remainder of the funds, as well as completing my research and preparing to publish the findings.
