Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research project focuses on assessing the effects of health insurance copayment and related health policies on healthcare usage and health outcomes. This study is aimed at investigating the impacts of health insurance and the related policies on individuals. The data of seven waves of Comprehensive Survey of Living Conditions, and from other surveys were obtained to facilitate analyzing the health policy impacts on healthcare utilization and health outcomes of individuals. The heterogeneous effects of the policies on individuals with different socio-demographic characteristics such as education level, household structure and region were also examined.

Reason
The systematic literature review was conducted and major studies from the health related journals were identified. The data of seven waves of Comprehensive Survey of Living Conditions were obtained and the data consolidation is now in progress. The acquisition of the other required data via survey is completed.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
An online survey for obtaining the information about an individual’s health literacy, health insurance status, healthcare usage, health outcomes and other demographic characteristics was completed and the data analysis is now in progress. Another online survey may be conducted to collect other required information. It is expected that the data analysis will be completed in the next few months. The the draft of the research paper will be prepared in due course.

Causes of Carryover |
It is planned to conduct another online survey for obtaining the following-up information about an individual’s healthcare usage, health outcomes and other demographic characteristics. The survey is now under preparation and will be conduced in June 2021. Also, research assistants are required for analyzing data, and assisting with the preparation of manuscripts.
