Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This three-year research project tries to examine the matching patterns between automakers and export intermediaries and study the welfare consequences of the registration policy.
During the second year of this project, I further examined the patterns of matching between manufacturers and intermediaries. Based on the stylized facts summarized from data, I also built an economic model of export through intermediaries to illustrate the mechanisms of the registration policy. These new findings and results were presented at the Summer Workshop on Economic Theory (SWET).
For the next year, I will continue working on the model and try to simulate the welfare consequences of the regulation.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
During the second year of this project, the main task is to develop an economic model that incorporates exporting through intermediaries. The model should also include the mechanisms through which the registration policy affects behaviors of automakers and trade intermediaries. The current model is able to accomplish the above goals and has the explanatory power to study welfares in the auto industry.
In general, this project went smoothly as planned and I will continue the research project according to the schedule.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Based on the current progress, I plan to improve and simulate the model, aiming to study the behavior changes of firms due to the regulation and estimate the scale of the regulation on the automobile industry in China.
Next, I will work on writing and editing the research paper.
