| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research is proceeding but it is too early for any research achievements. Dr. Shapira visited Tokyo in February for joint work but my visits to Europe to work with Dr. Choi and Dr. Llull has been delayed because of COVID-19. However, there are still many aspects of the work that can be done remotely. We are aiming to finish programming for the technological change and migration by the end of 2020. Hopefully we can submit the papers for conferences in 2021. However, publications will likely need to wait for 2022 at the earliest.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Progress seems normal. We are working on programming in FORTRAN for the project on technological change and migration and we are working on data analysis for the work on prenatal care demand estimation. Data collection in the Congo has been delayed because of COVID-19 but should resume in the Fall hopefully.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Continue programming, visit Europe and World Bank after end of COVID-19 pandemic, and data collection should continue in the Fall in Congo.

| Causes of Carryover |
I am planning to use this money to visit Congo (DRC) for field research but this research was delayed because of coronavirus. Therefore I need to delay spending the dokuritsu grant. In the event that I cannot visit Congo due to coronavirus I will plan to use this grant for a different project in Asia (perhaps Vietnam or Philippines).
