Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
For the first research project, "Technological Change and Wage Inequality: The Role of Migration, Occupations, and Human Capital", we have made substantial progress. The draft is at an advanced state including proofs of all the main propositions, the data have been cleaned, and we have initial estimates of the conditional choice probabilities and the production function parameters. We have almost completed programming the backward induction and equilibrium in FORTRAN and we should have an basic set of counterfactuals by the end of summer 2022. The second project "Quality of Perinatal Care and Clinic Choice: Evidence from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)" the data collection has been substantially delayed because of the pandemic. However, the World Bank team was able to return to the DRC this Spring and we anticipate having another round of data by the end of the summer, which should allow the project to proceed.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
One project has made excellent progress. However, the second project was delayed because of data collection issues in the Democratic Republic of Congo during the pandemic. However, the team was recently able to return to the DRC.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
For the first project, we hope to begin presenting our results by the Fall and hopefully begin submitting the paper at the beginning of 2023. For the second project, we will continue with the research because the data is extremely novel and we think it makes an important contribution to the design of public health care systems in developing countries. This second project also relies on a simpler estimation methodology than the first project so it's possible that the estimation will proceed quickly once we get the latest round of the data.

Causes of Carryover |
I plan to finish using all of the money this year.
