Outline of Final Research Achievements

This project was proposed to anlayze patent licensing. After reviewing prior studies and received advice from practitioners, this project made a comparison analysis of patent bundles that are licensed. It is found patent bundles with high similarity are licensed.
A patent is an exclusive right over new inventions. In this sense, it is an interesting finding that patent bundles with high similarity exist. Future studies may investigate why highly similiar patents exist. Does the patent system not work as it is designed? Is inventing something similar a result of a knowledge creation mechanism? Although this project did not progress as it was originally planned. However, it produced a new research question.
