Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to identify the diversification process of auto parts suppliers' business partners overseas.
The results of the study revealed that there are three types of processes that lead to new transactions by overseas subsidiaries of auto parts suppliers. The first is the parent company-led process. The second is the overseas subsidiary. The third is the parent company/overseas subsidiary collaboration type. In addition, four factors were involved in the process leading to the initiation of a new transaction. The first was the parent company's assignment of a role, the second was support by the parent company, the third was the overseas subsidiary's decision-making, and the fourth was the local environment. And the elements involved in each type of transactional diversification process were different.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の学術的意義は、親会社・海外子会社連携型という従来の海外子会社進化論の研究には見られない進化プロセスを明らかにしたことである。先行研究においては、親会社の主導による進化と海外子会社の主導による進化は指摘されていたが、両社が連携する進化は示されてこなかった。
社会的意義としては、海外子会社が販路を増やしていくことの重要性である。国内だけでは売上の大きな増加は見込めないが、海外においては国内の取引にとらわれずに新たな販路を拡大することによって企業の成長を目指すことができると考えられる。
