本研究プロジェクトは、①論理的整合性と倫理的寛容性の両方を備えた熟議のあり方を探究し、そのために必要な②合理的判断力と多様な他者と共生する能力の開発を促す教育方法を、教師教育の分野に当てはめて考察するものである。
2023年度は、2022年度末に出版したNel Noddings and Laurie Brooks (2017). Teaching Controversial Issues: The Case for Critical Thinking and Moral Commitment in the Classroom. Teachers College Pressの日本語訳、『批判的思考と道徳性を育む教室：「論争問題」がひらく共生への対話』（学文社、2023年）をもとに、その内容を日本の学校教育の文脈に落とし込むために開発した教材（論争問題対話カード）を用いた研修を開発・実施したほか、論争問題に関する対話への注目度の高いアメリカの実践をみるために、ニューヨーク州の公立図書館や美術館を訪問して学校外で開催されている子どもや若者向けプログラムの視察などを行った。
