Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The study was to empirically elucidate working and living practices that enhance teachers' well-being. The findings revealed the following. First, the relationship between teachers' working hours and life satisfaction was non-linear. For example, life satisfaction was not necessarily lower among teachers who worked longer hours in secondary schools with club activity guidance. On the other hand, a decrease in time spent with the family and a deterioration of teachers' health were identified as effects of teachers' long working hours. In particular, teachers who worked long hours reported headache symptoms more frequently. Furthermore, the more regularly teachers reported headache symptoms, the more presenteeism they tended to have in attending work despite their ill health. Indirectly, it was confirmed that working long hours impacts teachers' work performance.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
