Outline of Final Research Achievements

The research achievements of this research can be divided into two categories: (1) the results of a historical study of Japanese academic theories about parents' participation in school administration, and (2) the results of an empirical study of school administratino councils(Gakkou Unnei Kyougikai). Regarding (1), as a result of theoretical research based on a literature survey, this study clarified for the first time the total development of postwar Japanese academic theories on parents' participation in school adnimistration. As for (2), as a result of the empirical research and observation of school administration councils and education boards in Japan, tentative and hypothetical findings were obtained regarding the factors that make school administration councils function and become active.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究成果の学術的意義としては、第１に、学校運営への父母参加についての戦後日本の学説展開を初めてトータルに明らかにし、後続研究に対して、学説・制度の類型化の枠組みを示した点、第２に、学校運営への父母参加についての研究を分野横断的・学際的に行った点、第３に、学校運営への父母参加研究を「学校の効率的運営・学校改善」の視点からではなく「親の教育権」という視点から行った点にある。また、本研究の社会的意義としては、量的拡大が進められている学校運営協議会制度について、政策サイドへのその運用の改善についての示唆の提示や、その活動への参加者に対する有意義な情報提供の点にある。
