Outline of Final Research Achievements |
First, from the viewpoint of the essence of science, this study found "need for cognition in science" and "intellectual humility in science" as attitudes that can be fostered in science. Next, we developed a scale to evaluate the need for cognition in science and elucidated its reality. In addition, we devised a learning and instructional method to cultivate the need for cognition in science, and verified its effectiveness. Similarly, we developed a scale to evaluate intellectual humility in science and elucidated its actual condition. We also devised a learning and teaching method for fostering intellectual humility in science, and verified its effectiveness.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は,教科教育学という視点から,理科で育成可能な態度として「認知欲求」と「知的謙虚さ」を見出したことに学術的意義がある。また,限定的ではあるがそれらの態度を育成する学習指導法の一例を示した。これらの学習指導法を幅広く展開することができれば,知的な活動を楽しめる子供をこれまで以上に増やせる可能性がある。このような意味において社会的意義があると考える。
