Outline of Final Research Achievements |
First, we demonstrated that the finding from previous research -that people are more likely to judge racially ambiguous individuals as out-group members when they perceive resource scarcity- is not replicated (at least in contemporary Japan). Second, we showed that the model suggesting resource scarcity promotes out-group exclusion or un-inclusion via increased zero-sum beliefs receives variable support depending on the research method used, such as vignette experiments, priming experiments, and secondary analysis of large-scale social surveys.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
