Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、日本語の第一言語習得について、データの量的分析から体系的な理解を得るためのもので、人間言語およびその学習についての基礎的研究として位置付けられる。特に英語を中心に研究が進む分野において、言語類型的に大きく異なる日本語を研究することで、一般理論を検証することができる。
社会的意義としては、本研究は基礎研究であり、社会的活動を視野に入れたものではない。しかし言語習得プロセスの理解を明らかにする基礎的研究が、長期的に言語の理解を進め、特に言語発達における障害や言語教育に関する領域において役立つことが考えられる。
