ミリ波および可視の広視野観測で明かす遠方クエーサー周囲の銀河密度と再電離への寄与

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度採択されたミリ波干渉計ALMAの観測が実行されたので,そのデータを解析した.ターゲットは,すばる望遠鏡の広視野可視カメラHyper Suprime-Cam(HSC)で発見した,活動銀河核を持つ可能性のある赤方偏移6程度にある明るい星形成銀河のCO分子ガスからの輝線であった.3天体観測したところ,そのうち1天体で,信号対雑音比はそれほど高くないが,過去に検出されていた[OIII]88umや[CII]158umをもとにしたCOの観測周波数および天球面上の位置で,CO輝線と考えられるシグナルを発見した.他の2天体については非検出であったためCO輝線の上限値を計算した.これらのIR光度とCO光度を過去の低赤方偏移にある天体に対する結果と比較したところ,赤方偏移6での結果は低赤方偏移での結果と無矛盾であることがわかった.また,IR光度とCO光度および[CII]光度の間の比は,水素ガス密度や紫外放射の強さに依存するが,これらの値を過去の結果と比較したところ,今回CO輝線の検出された赤方偏移6の天体は水素ガス密度が高く,低赤方偏移の高光度赤外線銀河やクェーサーなどと同程度の可能性があることがわかった.さらに,CO輝線フラックスをもとに分子ガス質量密度を計算し,IR光度とUV光度の和をもとに求めた星形成率密度とともに過去の結果と比較したところ,赤方偏移6程度でも平均的には近傍の結果と矛盾しないが,その分散が大きい可能性があることがわかった.現在これらの結果をまとめた論文を査読雑誌に投稿中である.

Reason

当初は予定していなかった電波観測が採択されて無事に実行されたため,当初の計画からやや遅れたものの,そのデータを解析して結果を論文にまとめて査読雑誌に投稿した.ただ,年度内に採択には至らなかった.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

投稿中の論文の改訂を進める.

Causes of Carryover

投稿中の論文が年度内に採択にいたらなかったため,当初の見込みよりその他経費が低くなった.次年度使用額は主にその論文の出版費に充てる予定である.
