Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The stacking fault energy (SFE) is the major factor governing the mechanical behaviors of the face-centered cubic phase high entropy alloys (HEAs). The applicant succeeded in revealing the principles of the regulation of SFE by thermodynamics and ab initio calculations. Then, the mechanical behaviors were manipulated and novel high-performance Co-rich HEAs were developed following the guidance of the principles, which shed light on the basic understandings and development of next-generation HEAs. Besides, the deformation behavior and fracture mechanisms along with the influence of grain size and temperature of the novel designed HEAs were intensively studied. The study makes important contributions to the consummation of the metallurgy theories.
