Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This research developed an efficient and low-cost retrofitting method for reinforced concrete buildings with masonry walls by Ferrocement. The main achievements are as follows: 1) Development of procedure to apply Ferrocement retrofit: here, type of wire mesh, layers of wire mesh, connections as well material properties of mortar was investigated and tested by small scale-tests. 2)Evaluation method were proposed for failure mechanisms of the developed method. Specifically four failure mechanisms that were overlooked in previous studies were identified and evaluated. 3) Evaluation method was proposed based on experimental results and analytical methods. The evaluation method is a practical method that will help engineers to apply the method to actual RC buildings

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
There were some additional tests were slightly delayed due to the Corona virus restrictions. Those tests are now being conducted and results will be presented in publications by this fiscal year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Evaluation of the method using computer analysis is planned to conducted and compared with the experimental results that were conducted last year. Since this year is the planned to be the last year of this project, then most of the work will concentrate on summarizing the experimental results into publications of conferences and journal papers.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to Corona virus situation, expenses related to travel expenses to conduct tests were postponed to this year.
