Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Fenton-like catalyst was selected and fabricated. Anaerobic ammonium oxidation (Anammox) bacteria have been enriched in columns packed with the fabricated Fenton-like catalyst. High N removal efficiency of more than 80% was obtained under continuous operation condition at a nitrogen loading rate of 1.32 kg/m3/day. Next generation sequencing revealed the adaption and prevalence of anammox bacteria. The tolerant threshold of anammox bacteria to Fenton-like catalysts under different H2O2 doses was also confirmed using batch tests. A reactor combined by Anammox and Fenton-like reaction was established and operated under continuous condition. The results of this study have been accepted to publish in a peer-reviewed journal.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The experiment is conducting as previous plan.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Operation conditions such as pH, H2O2 doses and temperature will be tested and optimized for the simultaneous removal of N and C. Next, the performance of both N and C removal with and without H2O2 addition will be evaluated and compared under the elevated ratios of COD/N.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to the effects of COVID 19 pandemic, the plan for attending international conferences was cancelled. In addition, some chemicals were not available and can not provide in time by selling companies.
