Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to extract the characteristics of places that hold people together through an exploration of the factors that encourage people to return to their former neighborhoods in the communities affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. As a result, it is important to understand (1) the scope of the community that forms the place, (2) the extent to which activities to create and maintain the place are conducted, and (3) the relationship between people and place from the memories attached to the local space, and (4) the area of the hometown and its constituent elements as perceived by the residents. The possibilities of (3) deciphering the relationship between people and places from the memories attached to local spaces and (4) deciphering the hometowns that residents recognize and their constituent elements were discussed.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
