Outline of Final Research Achievements

Severe plastic deformation techniques are effective for producing ultrafine-grained structure and improving the mechanical properties of metals and alloys. However, ultrafine-grained materials have low heat resistance and easily soften at high temperature. In this study, we investigated the thermal stability of aluminum alloys processed by multi directional forging.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では、アルミニウム合金の多軸鍛造材による高強度化に関わる要素が示され、それらが高温下において起きる課題が再確認された。また、巨大ひずみ加工を施した高強度化材に対する熱的安定性に関する基礎データを提供した。これらのデータは巨大ひずみ加工により形成した超微細粒材の実用化に向けた一つの知見となりうる。
