Outline of Final Research Achievements

Imaging of neurotransmitters that correlate with signal transductions among neural cells is essential to reveal brain functions. Therefore imaging methods that make neurotransmitters in deep brain visible are required, although it remains challenging. Here we develop MRI contrast agents that produce MRI contrast changes responding to dopamine, serotonin, and glucose. These contrast agents could make it feasible to observe the neurotransmitters at whole brain levels.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
