Outline of Final Research Achievements

β-Lactamase, the commonest antibiotic resistance enzyme, is highly related to worldwide emergence and spread of multidrug-resistant pathogens. In the present study, we isolated novel β-lactamases with extended substrate specificity that contribute to two distinct biological functions (antibiotic resistance and cell-cell communication disruption), and characterized their enzymatic properties including substrate specificity.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
