Outline of Final Research Achievements |
A survey was conducted on "understanding and analysis of the occurrence of serious adverse events within 24 hours after surgery". The subjects were 18 pediatric general medical facilities nationwide. The number of facilities with PACU increased from 42% to 61%, and no facilities ceased operating. The reasons for the need for PACU were respiratory assessment, sedation assessment, pain assessment, and operating room utilization. The J-PACU Study Group was established as a platform for "verification of the usefulness of establishing a PACU as a measure to reduce postoperative serious adverse events''. A preliminary survey was performed in Gunma Prefecture. Hospitals with larger numbers of surgeries and operating rooms (ex, operating rooms more than 8) had PACUs.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
