Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
A quasi-experimental one-group posttest only study was carried out at the public maternity hospital Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The intervention of study was continuous support during labour and delivery by midwifery students to 2-4 women. A total of 420 and 408 women were participated in the pre-intervention and intervention groups. There were no significant differences in demographic and obstetric characteristics, oxytocin augmentation or episiotomy/perineal tears between groups. Labour duration was significantly shorter among multiparous women and women who received oxytocin for labour augmentation in the intervention group. Women's positive childbirth experience was significantly higher after adjustment for parity and oxytocin use in intervention group.
