Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research in the first FY went according to plan. I conducted a first research trip for empirical data collection to Myanmar, during which I conducted several expert interviews with policy makers, representatives of international organizations, non-governmental organizations and the business community. These interviews were complemented with site visits and other primary data collection activities. Initial findings have already been presented at international conferences, such as 4S in New Orleans, USA. In addition, as part of the research project, a public symposium at Kyushu University on the topic of "Sustainable Energy Development in Asia-Pacific" had been organized at Kyushu University.

Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The data gathered during the first research mission is currently being analyzed and supplemented with additional data gathering activities. The first academic journal article is currently in the drafting state, to be submitted and published in FY2020. In addition, I am currently in the planning stage for the second research mission and for a supplementary quantitative online survey among international stakeholders.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In the second FY I will write up the first academic journal article, based on the initial findings. I will also plan and eecute the second research mission to answer remaining questions and plan an international workshop at Kyushu University to discuss the research project with other experts n the field of sustaiable energy transitions in developing countries.
